ABOUT BIRDS OF PARADISE
Birds of Paradise was the idea of a cafe owner in Soho in Manhattan who wanted to provide a range of CBD for his coffee clients out of his Soho storefront, Summers.
The name is inspired by the spectacular cliffside views of the Pacific Ocean where Birds of Paradise bloom year round along the Southern California coast. These beaches are where owner Chris Taha first learned to surf; a hobby that’s taken him around the world.
Travel, surfing and the outdoors has always been passion that’s brought him around the world. Conceptualized while on a surf trip in Nicaragua with some buddies, Summers was created to combine Chris’ love of surfing and clean simple eats. With a menu inspired by NY classics and light healthy California bites, he wanted to combine the quick pace of a New Yorker with the west coast vibe of healthy fare on the go.
A people person at heart who enjoys the daily banter with his clients as they come and go each morning, he’s always been interested in healthy options to drink and eat. Experimenting with recipes and ingredients that keep the cafe a destination for busy New Yorkers and curious tourist alike, he went about his own discovery of all the benefits of CBD. As he learned more and spoke with more experts he knew he wanted to find options he could include on his own menu. After months of research he found a lab that could meet his expectations to work with and Birds of Paradise was born.
